He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands

Tonight, after a rough few days,  I was rocking Harper to sleep while singing songs to her. The childhood favorite “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands” came into my head and I began to sing it, my version of course:

He’s got the whole world in His hands. He’s got the whole wide world, in His hands, He’s got the whole world in His hands. The whole world in His hands.

He’s got you and me sister in His hands. He’s got you and me sister in His hands. He’s got you and me sister in His hands. He’s got the whole world in His hands.”

He’s got Mommy and Daddy in His hands. He’s got Mommy and Daddy in His hands. He’s got Mommy and Daddy in His hands. He’s got the whole world in His hands.

He’s got Ben and Cade in His hands. He’s got Ben and Cade in His hands. He’s got Ben and Cade in His hands. He’s got the whole world in His hands.

As I was singing this song, I was struck by the truth in the words. No matter what — what we’re going through in life, what our children are experiencing, where we’re at — we can trust that He’s got us in His hands. As I continually give my children to Him, as well as myself, daily — I can find comfort in knowing that they are covered by Him and so am I.  I envision God as having these large hands and we are tiny, sitting in His palm, as He covers us with His opposite hand, protecting and caring for us.
