sweet baby girl, not so little anymore…

31 May

May is birthday month around here. We must be bored in August or something. I don’t know. But I cannot believe that my baby is 2 today! Sweet Harper has completed our family like I couldn’t have hoped or dreamed of. She was definitely a gift from God, and He has such beautiful amazing plans for her.

Sweet girl, you have so much spunk in you, a lot of life, and personality. You don’t know a stranger and love those around you. Once you were born and I saw your brothers fall completely, head-over-heels in love with you, I thought it was because you were new. Surely, once they knew you were sticking around the family a bit, they would change their attraction, but no. Those two silly and wild brothers of yours are head-over-heels in love with you still. They adore you and you adore them.  (Although I know they can drive you completely crazy!)

You have such a sweet and tender spirit about you. You love cuddling and being held. You never wander far from Mommy and Daddy in your adventures. You love to explore what’s around, but love to come back to us too. You run full speed ahead to keep up with those brothers of yours. Your little legs or younger age will not hold you back! You can climb right alongside them, play with them, be as loud as they are, and be as silly as they are.

Some of my favorite things about you are your morning cuddles with me as we slowly wake up together, the way you love sitting on the counter cooking with me, your independence that is emerging as you want to do more and learn about it, the way you bow your head and pray when we pray closing with your own “Amen.”, your love of books and your crazy, silly faces and moods.

Baby girl, you’ve learned so much this past year – new skills, new things your body can do, new words, some sentences, new faces and emotions. Some words you say in your sweet toddler way that I can’t dare to bring myself to correct are water (wa-wee), soccer (socc-ee), dogs: buffy  (like our sweet Buff), chicken (cheepa), book (bup), and apple (appy). Ahhh…. so cute!

I am so over the moon about you. After having your two sweet brothers, I thought for sure you were another boy, I even forgot to ask your Daddy what you were when you were born. Some days, I still find it surreal that I have a sweet baby girl that I get to have as a daughter. You complete me in a special way. You complete our family in an incredibly special way. And I am so thankful to God for blessing us with you.

Happy Birthday sweet baby girl. May this year be an amazing one for you.

Love,

Mommy
